You use Advanced IP Scanner on Windows and you are weighing whether the thing being built here would be worth switching to.
Advanced IP Scanner is the tool most people in this category have actually used. It is free, it is quick, and it puts shared folders and remote-control actions right next to the device list, which on a Windows network is often the entire job.
The comparison is lopsided in both directions, which makes it more useful than most. Advanced IP Scanner wins on availability outright — it exists, it is free, and IPScanner.Pro has no public download at all. It also wins on Windows maturity: our Windows x64 build is implemented but has not completed native acceptance testing, and macOS is the platform we have actually verified.
What we offer in return is not speed or features-per-window. It is a record you can defend: results stored encrypted on the machine that produced them, differences against the last scan computed for you, and identifications that show their reasoning instead of asserting a label.

IPScanner.Pro
You want to know why a device was identified the way it was, and you want the result to stay on your machine unless you deliberately decide otherwise.
The data question
This is the difference worth thinking about carefully. Famatech’s download page does not state how results are stored or whether anything leaves the machine. That is not a claim that anything does — it is a gap in the public record, and we are not going to fill a gap with an insinuation. But if someone asks you to evidence what your scanning tool does with your network inventory, "the vendor does not say" is a difficult answer, and it is unavoidable with closed-source software whose documentation does not cover it.
Our answer is documented and narrow: the current desktop workflow is Local Only, results are written encrypted to the machine that scanned, keyed to the platform keystore, and there is no upload path in the product. Online sync is designed as an opt-in on top of that and does not exist yet. We would rather publish a small true claim than a large vague one.
What Advanced IP Scanner does better
It runs on Windows today, everywhere, for free, and a colleague who has never seen it can operate it. It bundles the actions people actually want next to discovery — browse shares, connect remotely — so the scan leads directly into the work. On an all-Windows network with no requirement to evidence data handling, that is a strong position and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Ours does not do those things. It is macOS-verified, has no public download, ships no remote-control integrations, and its Windows build is not acceptance-tested. That list is not modesty; it is the current state.
What each of these cannot do
Every entry below includes the tool we make, on the same terms and in the same list. The competitor entries state capabilities, not quality judgements.
Advanced IP Scanner — Famatech
It has no macOS or Linux version. The vendor’s download page lists Windows only, so “Advanced IP Scanner for Mac” has nothing official to install, and a Mac download offered by some other site would not be the vendor’s.
The vendor’s page does not state how results are stored or whether anything is sent anywhere, so this comparison does not claim either way.
It is closed source, so its behaviour cannot be audited the way an open-source scanner’s can.
There is no public download. Signed and notarized distribution does not exist yet, so nothing on this site offers an installer or a version number.
macOS is the verified platform. The Windows x64 build is implemented but has not completed native acceptance testing.
Full ports is not a whole-range sweep. It runs only on devices you select from a completed discovery in the same session.
Restored inventory is labelled historical and never claims a device is reachable now. Startup restore covers the newest retained scan and stops at 256 devices; the History dialog covers the rest.
Device identification can be incomplete. Private MAC addresses, blocked responses and thin evidence limit what any local tool can conclude.
Online sync, accounts and organisation features are not built. The design keeps local storage as the default and adds sync as an opt-in, but none of it ships today.
Scanning on macOS requires Local Network permission; Windows may show a firewall prompt or apply an organisation policy.
